Dan'l Moore has been forging steel since1975.  He started as only a tinkerer, but as his love of forging grew it inspired him to change his career.  He studied and worked for two years in 1988 &1989 at the Samuel Yellin Metalworks shop in Philadelphia.  That experience at the "Tiffany of ironwork" gave Dan'l invaluable skills in restoration and replication of traditional American wrought iron works.  Dan'l is now a seasoned blacksmith creating a vast array of functional items artistically designed and masterfully made.  The displayed pictures are only an example of the works created at Coon Hollow Forge.  Dan'l takes pride in his creativity and quality workmanship and is willing to take on any project.  The resulting quality forged ironwork will last for generations.
Blacksmithing is a slow and intricate process (not to mention loud and dirty).  Quite often a blacksmith will start the project by making the tools he will need by pounding pieces of hot iron on an anvil.  The project ends with the delicate touches of patinas and finishing waxes.

Blacksmiths have been sharing their skills and secrets for decades, and Dan'l is deeply dedicated to spreading the knowledge of forging.

He has taught many workshops, hosted others as president of the Northern Rockies Blacksmith Association, and traveled all over the world to be a student.  Dan'l has a clear idea of how to create a good learning experience for all ability levels.  He is a patient concise teacher who gives emphasis to hands on workshops over lecturing.
